Terranoble Gran Reserva Carignan

Terranoble Gran Reserva Carignan

Vintage: 2017
Winery: Terranoble
Description: 94 pts Descorchados June 2019 Best Carignans Of The Year/ Best Valley Choice/ Melozal: From old-vine carignan in the Melozal zone, in the heart of Maule's dry farmed secano, this wine was aged in a combination of foudres and used oak, and the result is a delightfully fresh and so light it's almost ethereal, full of red fruit and floral flavors in a kind of new-style carignan that's much more focused on freshness. It's almost for quenching your thirst. 92 pts Wine & Spirits 2020 Top 100 Best Buy Marcelo Garcia makes this wine from a vineyard in Melozal, Cauquenes, where TerraNoble works with a grower farming 60-to-100-year-old vines. Garcia ages it in old barriques to mellow the tannins without creating any barrier to the pure expression of Maule's great, often overlooked Secano Interior. Those carignan tannins are black against the red juice, the flavors made vivid by blood-orange acidity. You might find pomegranate or currant tones to the fruit, which feels spicy and cool at once. A lovely Cauquenes red, and a steal at the price. 91 pts James Suckling April 2019 A powerful and highly structured carignan with dark cherries and plenty of mineral power, plus crisp acidity
