Altano Douro Red.750

Altano Douro Red.750

Proprietary Blend - Red

Description: Provenance Made from grapes grown in the Symington familys own Douro Valley vineyards (principally Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions). In all of these, environmental care is uppermost in the viticulturists minds and accordingly, they use integrated vineyard management, a code of sustainable agricultural practice which favours natural measures to control pests and other threats to the vines. Principal Varieties Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca (the relative proportions of each vary from year to year). Vinification In stainless steel vats with pumping over and a soft maceration at low temperatures (23-24c) in order to extract colour and aromas, limiting tannin extraction, resulting in an aromatic, full and fruity, easy to drink wine. Ageing A minimum of four months in oak barrels. Tasting Profile Ideal for everyday, informal drinking at home with family or with friends, a great wine to relax and unwind with. Altano reflects its Douro origins perfectly: generous aromas of wildflowers (rockrose and lavender); full-bodied structure with fresh and assertive fruit (plums and black cherries); spicy, peppery tones, all seamlessly held together. A very food-friendly wine, Altano is a great companion for a wide selection of foods. Its full, assertive fruity style makes it particularly suited to accompany savoury Mediterranean dishes and barbecue grills. Technical Sheets Pdf: Douro DOC Red Wine 2010
