Chateau Cruzeau Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Chateau Cruzeau Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Proprietary Blend

Vintage: 2016
Description: André Lurton first saw the estate in 1973, after a heavy storm – a sort of localized tornado – during which a plot of young pine trees was entirely devastated. Curious to see the effects, he took a walk around. He noticed that the roots of the fallen trees were studded with stones, indicative of an outstanding gravelly soil conducive to making fine wine. He thus set his heart on buying the estate that had practically stopped producing wine in the late 19th century due to the phylloxera. Beginning in 1975, André Lurton and his team focused all their efforts on restoring Château de Cruzeau's former glory. They cleared the land, renovated buildings, planted new plots and replanted existing ones. Today, the estate has nearly 100 hectares of vines on beautiful south-facing gravelly rises with plenty of river stones – a terroir extremely conducive to making great red and white Pessac-Léognan wines. The wines of Château Cruzeau are widely recognized and appreciated for their great finesse.
