Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot Number 66

Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot Number 66

Non-Varietal Red Blend from California

Description: Review Scot Bilbro continues to make gorgeous wines at Mar ietta Cellars. In recent years, Bilbro has introduced a mid tier of blends (Roman, Arme and Christo) and a higher-end range (Zinfandel Angeli, Cabernet Sauvignon Game Trail and Syrah Estate Gibson Block). Marietta's Old Vine Red remains one of the best American wines in its price range, while the newer mid-tier range delivers the best bang for the buck in this portfolio.Bilbro crafts wonderfully aromatic, flavorful wines full of character. - From Sonoma's Stellar 2016s (Apr 2018) by Antonio Galloni. Wine maker notes Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine made to replicate the field blends of many of the old vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Predominantly comprised of Zinfandel, Old Vine Red combines pure fruit, a supple mouth feel and a rich, solid structure. A groundbreaking combination of varietals and multiple vintages first produced in 1982, this wine has blazed the path for red blends for decades. With a historic underground following, it is one of the longest lasting and best known red blends produced today. Producer Marietta Cellars, located just outside of Geyserville in Sonoma County, was founded by Chris Bilbro in 1978. In recent years Chris's sons, Jake and Scot, representing the second generation, have taken over most of the responsibilities. Marietta Cellars wines are consistent, concentrated, complex and, most importantly, pleasurable. "For over three decades one of the greatest values in dry California red wine has been the nonvintage kitchen sink blend from the Bilbro's family-owned Marietta Cellars…This wine flies off retailers' shelves, so smart consumers take note." Wine Advocate.
