| Description: | The brainchild of Dave Phinney, The Prisoner was established as a way for him to showcase his edgy style and taste in the art of winemaking. Using the "mixed blacks" first crafted by Italian immigrants who had settled in California's Napa Valley, Phinney crafted his first expression using Zinfandel and a selection of other varietals. With his inaugural batch of 385 cases now ready for market, all he needed was a label and catching a glimpse of an etching made by one of Spain's most famous painters, Francisco de Goya, named "Little Prisoner" in his office, he finally had everything he needed to launch his new venture. |
