Combining barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon, it comes from wind-buffeted blocks at the top of the farm and is suitably Atlantic in style, with chiselled acidity, kelp, citrus and pink grapefruit flavours and fine oak. 2023-29 96 pts Winemag.co.za August 2022 What a beauty Isliedh 2020 from Cape Point Vineyards is. It consists of 80% Sauvignon Blanc fermented in French oak and 20% Semillon in amphorae, maturation lasting 10 months before a further five months in tank. The nose is magnificently complex with notes of citrus, peach, blackcurrant, fynbos, white pepper and other spice plus a hint of reduction while the palate is rich and thick textured but equally vital and arresting thanks to a great line of acidity. Powerful and yet poised. |
