Siduri Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands

Pinot Noir

Vintage: 2016
Description: Review Dianna and Adam Lee are now old-timers when it comes to producing wines from the best vineyards of the Santa Lucia Highlands (not to mention the Santa Rita Hills) and their 2016s continue their streak of outstanding vintages. Long-time followers of Siduri will be pleased that the '16s showcase the Lees' wines' emphasis on expressive fruit and silky texture which makes the Siduri Pinots accessible almost immediately upon release. But plenty of experience has taught me that the wines reward patience as well so don't hesitate to stash a few bottles away for drinking a good decade down the road or even longer. - From New Releases from Santa Lucia Highlands & Neighbors (Oct 2018) by Josh Raynolds. Other text Our winemaking goal is to produce Pinot Noir that best captures the distinct flavor and character of a given vineyard site. To that end, we focus only on Pinot Noir, and source only from vineyards that provide us with exceptional fruit. Producer Siduri specializes in cool-climate Pinot Noir from five major AVAs on the West Coast, spanning from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, down to Santa Rita Hills in California's Santa Barbara County. At Siduri, we believe that serious wine and serious fun are not mutually exclusive. Wine Advocate 90 points - Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands has a bright nose of crushed red and black cherry, dried cranberry, pomegranate liqueur and rhubarb with nuances of dusty earth, dried leaves and floral hints. Light to medium-bodied, it offers fresh red and black fruit flavors in the mouth with juicy acidity and soft tannins, finishing with an herbal tinge. 2,662 cases produced. (Feb 2020). Vinous 92 points - Bright ruby-red. Smoke-tinged dark berry and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of cola espresso and candied flowers. Nicely concentrated but lively as well offering sweet red and blue fruit flavors that are energized by building spiciness. Subtle tannins build on the persistent finish which leaves cola and floral notes behind. (Oct 2018) Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a red fruited wine with superb concentration and balance. Having only been bottled a few months ago, it is still a bit tight on the finish, but really opens up after being open for several hours.
