| Description: | Description: The Falanghina varietal is well known grape from Roman antiquity when it was commonly called Falernian. Its origins are reportedly Greek. This varietal has been of interest since the turn of the century, when a concerted effort was to restore its reputation as a venerated Italian grape. Thriving in volcanic soils around Mt. Vesuvius in the warm Mediterranean climate, the grape berries are yellow skinned coated by a thin layer of wax. Well known for its citrus-blossom aromas and a slight pine scent, the wine shows classic apple and pear flavors with spicy mineral notes. Food Pairing: Watermelon salad, pasta with garlic/white wine, raw seafood, bitter greens, ground lamb, cumin dishes, etc. |
