| Description: | While the Sassetti family have been farmers for many generations, they've been working as vine-growers and winemakers for four generations. A founding member of the Brunello Consortium in 1967, Livio Sassetti inherited his family's passion for wine, and he wanted the chance to estate-bottle his own Brunello, so in the early 1970's he purchased his own plot of land in Montosoli and founded the Pertimali estate, named for a cottage on the property. The 39-acre Pertimalli Sassetti estate now rests in the hands of Livio's sons, Lorenzo and Luciano, who join him in the production of elegant, complex, and aromatic wines that marry the distinctive Montalcino terroir with the structure of Burgundy. In addition to Pertimali Sassetti, the Sassetti family of estates includes La Querciolina in Umbria and Colle Argento in Valdobbiadene. |
