An excellent introduction to the brilliance of the 2008 vintage in Champagne, this has a cornucopia of citrus, toast and brioche notes, plus some red-fruit character. Powerful and structured, but very focused with impressive chalky minerality, this is just reaching ideal drinking form. Very long, tantalizing finish, where the high natural acidity is well integrated. A blend of 50% pinot noir and 50% chardonnay all from Grand Cru villages. Drink or hold. - James Suckling. Superbly fresh palate with an elegant texture, mouthwatering acidity and confit lemon, dark chocolate and bitter orange flavours. 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir - Decanter. A fine, mature Champagne, this is beautifully textured. Fruit is still there, a fine underlay of bright acidity, surmounted by toastiness and minerality. A firm, open-knit version, with a fine bead and a chalky underpinning aligned with a subtle mesh of crunchy green pear, Meyer lemon peel and elderflower notes.
