Description: | Note: This Is A Half-bottle (375ml). Wine Advocate - 96 Points The 2020 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese is discreet and remarkably coolish on the dense and lemon-scented nose compared to Zeltingen and Bernkastel. White peach and nectarine aromas intertwined with coolish broken slate aromas make this a savory and irresistible Auslese, even though, or exactly because of it, this is so discreet and only subversively erotic on the nose. The palate then reveals stunning lightness and finesse based on a filigreed structure and highly refined and zesty acidity. This is almost weightless, but it has a sweet core that materializes the fruit, whereas in the transcendental Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, it's more of an idea. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from Ap 19 21 in July 2022. Prum's 2020s are without exception narrative Rieslings, shaped by their respective origins, which to taste always means pleasure and even relaxation but never real work. It will certainly not be easy for the 2021s to outdo the partly grandiose 2020s once these show fascinating clarity, finesse and elegance. Even Dr. Manfred Prum, probably not a man of praise, had to admit at the end, "That was a highly enjoyable wine tasting; that's how I like it!" He wanted to explicitly praise his daughter Katharina for the 2020 vintage, but at the subsequent lunch he preferred to devote himself and us to two wines from the archive. Thank goodness Prm wines speak for themselves anyway, so who needs praise?. John Gilman - View From The Cellar - 97 Points - "Katarinas 2020 Himmelreich Auslese is a simply stunning young wine. Aromatically, the wine is unbelievably precise and vibrant, soaring from the glass in a mix of pineapple, fresh lime, a touch of white cherry, bee pollen, wild yeasts, a crystalline base of slate minerality, a hint of honeycomb and a potpourri of citrus blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is zesty, medium-full and filigreed, with lovely depth and complexity, a beautiful girdle of acidity, laser-like focus and a very, very long, impeccably balanced finish. 2033-2100.". Mosel Fine Wines - 93+ Points - "The 2020er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese offers a beautifully pure and ripe nose of smoke, grapefruit, lime, vineyard peach, minty herbs, and bacon-driven aromatics from residual from its spontaneous fermentation. The wine coats the palate with gorgeously ripe and juicy notes of fruits and leaves a superbly pure, smooth, and almost soft and suave feel in the hugely long finish. The aftertaste is still loaded with sweetness in need of integration, which will need quite some time to integrate. There is upside potential as the wine gains finesse with age. 2035-2050+". Vintage report : The 2020 vintage began with a mild winter, but also with good humidity. Bud break and flowering occurred early in April/June and the summer lasted until September. Overall, this vintage had more hours of sunshine than ever before. The grape harvest began on September 17 and ended on October 21. The grapes were healthy, had moderate sugar content and good acidity. All predicates from Kabinett to Tba were harvested and the quantities were better than in 2019. Terroir : Graacher Himmelreich is faced more westwords, less steep and has deeper soils compared to Wehlener Sonnenuhr; with grey slatesoil and good water reservoirs. |
