Guillemard-Clerc Bourgogne Blanc 'Les Parties' ">

Vintage: 2022
Winery: Guillemard-Clerc
Description: Corinne Guillemard-Clerc is a 3rd generation grower, and the first to make wine and bottle under the family name. Still, she is a grower first and foremost, with only 30% of her production being bottled. Tiny by most standards, she owns a modest 25 acres spread over 15 appellations, most in Puligny and Beaune. "Les Parties" is an exceptional vineyard located within the village boundaries of Puligny-Montrachet. While classified a Bourgogne vineyard, Corinne treats this wine exactly the same as she does her 1er Cru Puligny Montrachet – hand-harvested and sorted, then pressed immediately to avoid any risk of oxidation. The juice is then put straight into oak barrels (20% new Allier) and held for 9 months. The result is a wine that tastes like a 'baby Puligny-Montrachet' in the truest sense. We were blown away by this white. Precise, focused and powerful, yet graceful and balanced, all with a Bourgogne Blanc price. Ripe (but not too ripe) citrus, peach and pear notes combine with white flowers and minerals on the nose, giving way to more of the same on the palate, along with yellow apple and ripe lemon. Bright acidity makes the finish mouthwatering and a hint of vanilla smooths things out. Between the gates of Lyon and Chablis, Puligny-Montrachet, a small Burgundian village, produces some of the most renowned white wines in the world. It is here that the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir are the ambassadors of Domaine Guillemard-Clerc. Thanks to the complexity of the clay-limestone subsoil, the different orientations of the hillsides and the microclimates, this domaine produces wines of unique character and finesse.
