La Horra Corimbo 1

La Horra Corimbo 1

Vintage: 2016
Description: Organically Grown Grapes. Decanter Magazine's Spanish Red Wine of the Year!. We're excited to have Decanter Magazine's Spanish Red Wine of the Year. More than 16,000 wines from around the world were submitted for this year's Decanter Awards and were blind tasted by a panel of experts which included Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and writers from Decanter magazine. This great Ribera del Duero wine from Bodegas La Horra was judged to be the best in its category at the largest and most prestigious wine contest in the world. The best in each category were tasted against each other and Corimbo 1 beat out every Spanish red wine submitted. This means it bested numerous well-known wines, many of which cost much more, including Vega Sicilia!. Bodegas La Horra was founded by Bodegas Roda and brothers Pedro and Pablo Balbs in April 2009. Located in the town of La Horra, the 20-hectare estate is surrounded by pine forests south of Monte de Villalobn. This is only the second vintage of Corimbo 1 produced by Bodegas La Horra. It is made from Goblet- trained Tempranillo vines that are more than 50 years old in La Horra. Cultivated organically without the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides for synthetic products, the perfectly ripened grapes are aged for 16 months on French and American oak. The result is a polished, full-bodied beauty displaying a mlange of red and black fruits with great intensity and purity. Corimbo 1 showcases the marvelous 2010 vintage in Ribera del Duero with excellent depth, richness and length. It is a thrilling expression of the terroir of Ribera del Duero and perhaps the greatest example available now.
