We are big fans as Josh delivers a bountiful bevvy of excellent wines year-in and year-out-- so we were not surprised that Collusion took the crown for April as our 'Wine of the Month.'. The 2018 Collusion is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Malbec and 6% Merlot and offers a ton of flavor and value for the modest price. The nose is filled with notes of black cherry, balsa wood, tobacco leaf, black tea, earth/soil and redcurrant. The fruit scents are tempered with savory elements. The palate continues with the balance of flavors and textures. Black and red fruits, currants and red cherries and berries, are supported by a touch of herbals, garrique, tea leaf, white pepper. And like the best of choirs, when the individual flavors and scents work together in harmony, the result is a chorus that sings to the ages. And this wine sings ! Importantly, light acidity and silky tannins interweave throughout the wine adding structure and a platform that allows the vinous choir to shine. The finish adds a flourish, a crescendo of fruits and a touch of minerality and sea salt, leaving wondrous echoes on the palate. Buy, drink, enjoy ! We'll defer to the winemaker about pairing: Josh says this wine can be ".enjoyed on its own, or with a wide variety of dishes, from pork tenderloin to rib eye steak.".
