| Description: | Organically Farmed. Colle Stefano has been our absolute favorite Verdicchio at Hi-Time for many years. Ian D'Agata of Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar has said, "i think it is probably Italy's single greatest white wine buy.". This organic white comes from the little town of Matelica is in the Marche region and has been consistent in quality, winning at least two or three glasses from the noted Italian publication Gambero Rosso almost every year. Winemaker Fabio Marchionni keeps yields extremely low and makes wine with painstaking care. You could eat off the floor of the winery (and hygiene is very important when making this kind of white wine). It is fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel (no oak) and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. This wine is racy, vivid, and excellent with light fare or on its own. This wine is dry and light-bodied with crisp acidity and good structure. This wine is charming on the nose with a bouquet of nectarines, chamomile and lemon blossoms, and equally pleasing on the palate with flavors of white peach, kaffir lime and nectarines. This wine is vibrant and quenching at every sip with pleasing minerality. The finish is long and enhanced by its lively acidity. This is a wine that would pair well with grilled halibut, salads, or shrimp on the barbie. Delicious! |
