Reveals baking spice accents as this winds down on the lingering aftertaste, along with a mineral element. Drink now through 2028. 160 cases imported. - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator. Subtle aromas of muddled lemon wedges and dandelions harmonize with tall wet grass, fresh hay and broken stone. The palate is rounded by lactic softness, with flavors of lemon pith, lime skin and bruised apple caressed by light kelp and hay. Mouth-watering acidity energizes the palate as the wine finishes with intense salinity. - Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast. A fresh and clear Chablis with notes of lemons, sea salt, white peaches, chalk and sliced apples. Medium-bodied, with bright acidity and saline, stony and chalky layers. Subtle yet persistent. The 2020 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a pretty nose, more low key compared to the Montée de Tonnerre with touches of white peach and light wild mind notes emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, fine depth, crisp acidity with commendable persistence on the finish. A little stricter than other cuvées from La Chablisienne…and I like that. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media. A very Chablis-like nose freely offers up its aromas of quinine, petrol, green fruit and citrus rind. There is fine richness to the seductively textured and mouth coating flavors that terminate in a moderately long, clean and dry finish. While this is perfectly good, this seems to lack the same personality as the best of these 1ers plus it could use better depth. - Burghound |
