Big House Wine Bootlegger White Lucky Luciano

Non-Varietal White Blend

Vintage: 2016
Description: Wine maker notes Big HouseĀ® Bootlegger White is a rebellious mix of non-traditional grape varieties destined to offer a new experience. It has a nose that carries the vibrancy of spring, white flowers, and lychee fruit that surround the senses. The palate opens up with tropical fruits, dried apricot and white peaches. This wine finishes strong with a cleansing citrus zest that lingers. Like Lucky and his "commission" this wine brings the best of a collection together to form a blend that is greater than the sum of its parts. Other text Considered to be the father of modern organized crime in the United States, Charles "Lucky" Luciano formed "The Commission" in 1931. His group brought together five of the biggest and most notorious New York crime families, as well as Al Capone's outfit in Chicago. Luciano wore elegant suits, silk shirts, handmade shoes, and his favorite accessory-a beautiful woman on his arm at all times. Before Luciano, crime was just crime. After, it was organized. During the era of Prohibition, Luciano and his partners managed to run the largest bootlegging operation in New York. By 1925, he was grossing over $12 million a year with a net income of close to $4 million, which he garnered after the costs of bribing politicians and police. This eventually led to Luciano reaching the status as one of the "big six" of bootlegging. Producer Prohibition shook America's foundation. It turned men into mobsters, drove ladies to lawlessness and transformed bootleggers into heroes. Big HouseĀ® wines are inspired by these bootleggers, who helped bring Prohibition to an end and paid their dues in the Big House. Established in 1990 in Monterey County California, Big House Wine Co. receives its namesake due to the close proximity to the Soledad Correctional Facility, A.k.a. "The Big House." Our wines are crafted to deliver a fruit-forward style with an unrestrained full-mouth character that is big, bold and unapologetic.
