If I had to pick the white of the vintage, it would be the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc from proprietor Olivier Bernard. Based largely on Sauvignon Blanc (there's around 30% Sémillon) and from a 6-hectare parcel located just outside of Léognan, it offers sensational notes of citrus oil, liquid rock, caramelized limes, and a huge chalky/flinty minerality. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, yet with bright acidity, it should drink well for 2-3 decades. - Jeb Dunnuck. Domaine De Chevalier Rouge 2010 - 96 JS / 95+ Jd / 95 Rp / 95 De / 95 We. This is one of my all-time favorite wines from Domaine de Chevalier, a silky, rather classic Pessac-Leognan with notes of scorched earth, tobacco leaf and black and red currants, but no hard edges. Fragrant, complex aromatics are followed by a savory, expansively flavored wine made from a final blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine hit 13.5% natural alcohol, which must certainly be among the highest they have ever achieved, even eclipsing the 2009. An opulent, precocious style of wine that seems much more developed, complex and delicious than I thought from barrel, this beauty can be drunk in 5-6 years or cellared for 20 or more. - Robert Parker. Domaine De Chevalier Rouge 2013 - 93 JS / 92 We / 92 De. Extremely easy to immediately enjoy the rich and ripe fruit character on the nose on this wine, it's not got the complexity of some vintages but is delivering gorgeous depth of expression, charcoal, cassis, liquorice, heather, soft black pepper spicing, a great job in a tough year with a lovely touch of exuberance. One that will surprise people. - Jane Anson, Decanter. Domaine De Chevalier Rouge 2014 - 97 We / 96 Vm / 95 Ja. The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is a total knockout. Precise, brilliant and finely sculpted, the 2014 possesses superb intensity. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red berries, along with finessed but persistent tannins, give the wine its regal personality. The 2014 needs a number of years to shed some baby fat and develop the full breadth of its aromatics, but it is a fabulous wine by any measure. The 2014 is 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot that spent approximately 35 days on the skins. Olivier Bernard noted that the Merlots were brought in between October 10 and 17, which is quite late by the domaine's standards. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. Domaine De Chevalier Rouge 2015 - 97 Jd / 97 JS / 97 Vm / 96 De / 95 Wa. I was able to taste the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier twice and it showed sensationally both times. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot that was harvested between October 1st and October 15th, this deep ruby/purple-colored effort has soaring aromatics of caramelized black cherries, cassis, lead pencil shavings, and forest floor. Deep, full-bodied, intense and beautifully pure, with fine tannin and moderate acidity, it's a gorgeous Pessac-Leognan that needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will evolve for three decades. - Jeb Dunnuck. Domaine De Chevalier Rouge 2016 - 97 Vm / 97 JS / 97 Jd / 96 Ws / 96 De. The 2016 Domaine de Chevalier is a thrilling wine. Dense and beautifully layered, the 2016 is also quite a bit richer than it usually is. Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics and structure pulse through the wine. The red-toned fruit is incredibly primary at this stage. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2016 for at least a handful of years. It has been nothing short of magnificent on the three occasions I have tasted it so far. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media.
