The Nies'chen vineyard is steep and well-exposed, an extreme site with blue slate and sparse stony topsoil – the vines for this wine come from just above a wall on the hill's steepest section, hence the name "Auf den Mauern." This is a powerful, tense wine with a developing smokiness, some richness, a spicy texture, and a long finish. |
