Uccelliera Rapace

Uccelliera Rapace

Vintage: 2019
Description: Wine Spectator 93 Points - "This is finding its sweet spot, with sappy cherry and blackberry fruit accented by rose hip, leather, orange peel and sweet spice aromas and flavors. Harmonious and juicy, with a lingering aftertaste.". Wine Advocate 92 Points - "a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Rapace opens to a medium-dark color and nice concentration that is not too heavy and not too light (although the 15% alcohol content is a lot). It's perfect as an all-meal option or a versatile wine that can pair with everything from appetizers to meat-based mains. The bouquet offers dark fruit and plum. Those primary aromas are framed by sweet spice, cedar and tobacco. Those oak elements work to create greater depth and texture in the wine.". Rapace by Uccelliera combines the winery's Sangiovese (Brunello) grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to create a delicious, seductive alternative that can be enjoyed now. Down in their southern part of Montalcino, in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, the wines tend to be darker-fruited (especially with the French varieties in there), with a richer warmth. Uccelliera is a practicing organic winery. Integrated insect and disease control is followed; organic and organic-mineral fertilizers (copper and sulfur-based products) are used in the vineyards. Insecticides and herbiscides are used rarely, if ever. The soil is tilled on the rows between the vines. To preserve the wine, low doses of So2 are added to the wines.
