Riesling from Austria

Description: | 94 points James Suckling. This has a very intense nose with plenty of stone-fruit aromas. The depth and fleshy appeal here are really striking; there's a wealth of peaches and nectarines. Quite fleshy and powerful, long and juicy. Some gently smoky, flinty edges on the finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap. (9/2019) 94 points Wine Enthusiast. Funky reduction for now is all that can be detected on the nose—but that is not a bad sign. The palate brings a wealth of notions that somehow unite wet earth, dry hay, Mirabelle plum and miso. The body is balanced and rounded but also wonderfully textured. Wait for this: It will blossom with just a little bottle age. Drink by 2035. (ak) (3/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. The 2018 Grüner Veltliner Kammern Ried Lamm 1Ötw displays an intense golden-yellow color and opens with an elegant bouquet with bright and refined fruit and pure mineral aromas but also a hint of autolysis and burnt milk at this early stage. The palate is intense and fresh, even refreshing due to its mineral soul and vibrancy. This Lamm combines finesse and freshness with purity and complexity and comes in with spectacular, moderate 13% alcohol and lingering salinity and purity on the refreshing and aromatic finish. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg in September 2019. (sr) (3/2020). |
