|Description:||In the French branch of the storied Rothschild family, the tradition of wine dates back to 1868 with the purchase of Château Lafite by James de Rothschild. After more than a century of family history interlinked with the world of wine, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the great grandson of James, strengthened the family's wine ties with the 1973 purchase of two "crus bourgeois" from Listrac and Moulis en Médoc: Château Clarke and Châteu Malmaison. He then founded the "Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild."The estates were lovingly restored and the vines replanted. The company modernized and grew, but retained a family dimension. Since then, La Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild has opened itself to opportunities worldwide, starting with its venture with the Rupert family in South Africa. The "Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons" winery arose out of a common passion at the foot of the magnificent Simonsberg Mountain. More recently, Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild bought a hundred hectares of land at the foot of the Andes and participated in the "Clos de los Siete" project. Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and his wife Ariane have continued the production of top quality wines with the highest of standards, both in terms of the choice of new "terriors" and at each stage of vinification. Following in his father's footsteps, Benjamin purchased the superb Château des Laurets property in 2003 with the aim of brining out the full potential of its 86 hectares, which straddle the two appellations of Puiisseguin Saint Emilion and Montagne Saint-Emillion. Extensive renovation of the estate was undertaken so that it now boasts modern and high-performance facilities. Producer As owners of Chateau Lafite Rothschild for five generations, the Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) are determined to ensure their role as stewards of worldrenowned uality. For many years, the Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) have complemented their fine wines from their prestigious vineyards with a line of wines great for casual enjoyment, known as their ""Reserves"". To share in the spirit of ""Reserve des Barons"", Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) decided to offer different appellations to customers and friends. These include the Reserve Pauillac, Reserve Medoc, Bordeaux Rouge and Bordeaux Blanc.|
