Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Kosher

Bordeaux Blend

Description: In the French branch of the storied Rothschild family, the tradition of wine dates back to 1868 with the purchase of Chteau Lafite by James de Rothschild. After more than a century of family history interlinked with the world of wine, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the great grandson of James, strengthened the familys wine ties with the 1973 purchase of two crus bourgeois from Listrac and Moulis en Mdoc: Chteau Clarke and Chteu Malmaison. He then founded the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The estates were lovingly restored and the vines replanted. The company modernized and grew, but retained a family dimension. Since then, La Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild has opened itself to opportunities worldwide, starting with its venture with the Rupert family in South Africa. The Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons winery arose out of a common passion at the foot of the magnificent Simonsberg Mountain. More recently, Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild bought a hundred hectares of land at the foot of the Andes and participated in the Clos de los Siete project. Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and his wife Ariane have continued the production of top quality wines with the highest of standards, both in terms of the choice of new terriors and at each stage of vinification. Following in his fathers footsteps, Benjamin purchased the superb Chteau des Laurets property in 2003 with the aim of brining out the full potential of its 86 hectares, which straddle the two appellations of Puiisseguin Saint Emilion and Montagne Saint-Emillion. Extensive renovation of the estate was undertaken so that it now boasts modern and high-performance facilities.
