Description: | 90-92 Vm / 89-91 Jm / 88-91 Bh. Size: 1.2 ha (2.9 ac). Variety: Pinot Noir. Vine Age: Planted in 1935, 1949, 1955. Terroir: Blend of Aux Réas and Au-Dessus de la Rivière, clay-limestone soils. Viticulture: Sustainable. Vinification: Cold macerated. Ambient yeast fermentation in concrete vat. 1-2 pump-overs per day with a few punch-downs at the end of fermentation. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 13 months in barrels (30% new). The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village has an attractive nose with quite generous red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, hints of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, tensile and citrus-fresh with an orange peel infused finish. Very fine. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media. A blend of three plots. A bright racy purple with plenty of energy on the nose. Some ferruginous note to this as well, on the leaner side but with a clean pure red fruit running all the way though and very persistent. Drink from 2025-2029. Tasted: November 2022.-Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. Tasting note: A much spicier though less earthy nose features notes of red currant, cherry and a whiff of herbal tea. The racy, intense and nicely detailed middleweight flavors flash a lovely texture before concluding in a youthfully austere finale that could use slightly better depth. Given the apparent aging curve, more complexity should certainly develop if allowed a few years of cellaring.-Allen Meadows, Burghound |
