Terra d'Oro Chenin/Viognier

Terra d'Oro Chenin/Viognier

Description: Vineyard Information. Grapes for the Terra dOro Chenin Blanc & Viognier are handpicked from select vineyards. The Chenin Blanc, a versatile white grape variety that can range from dry to very sweet and typically offers high acidity, comes from the Clarksburg appellation in the Sacramento Delta. This region is well-known for producing Chenin Blanc thanks to the rich soils and maritime influence. The Viognier is from our Voteau Vineyard in Amador County. The high elevation,. warm days and cool nights bring intense varietal character to the fruit. Viognier is most notably produced in the Loire Valley of France and is great for blending with Chenin Blanc to add a plush character to the wine. Winemaking. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit is handled with the utmost of care. The grapes are immediately sent to press for gentle processing, minimizing the potential extraction of unwanted astringency and color from the skin and seeds. The clean juice is immediately sent to stainless steel fermenters, and during fermentation, the juice is kept at very low temperatures to support the bright, clean fruit characteristics. Tasting Notes. The Terra dOro Chenin Blanc & Viognier displays luring aromas of juicy tropical fruits, fresh lemon and hints of spice. The palate boasts flavors of pink grapefruit, papaya, and subtle sweet mango. This wine is lively, refreshing and well balanced with crisp acidity perfect for a warm afternoon or during sunset hour. For a delicious pairing, serve this wine with shellfish, ceviche sashimi or a spicy tuna roll and shishito peppers.
