Pavillon De Leoville Poyferre (750ML)

Pavillon De Leoville Poyferre (750ML)

From Saint-Julien

Vintage: 2020
Description: 94 JS / 93 Vm / 92 Wci / 92 Jd / 92 De. Currant and dark chocolate with walnut and cedar undertones. It's medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Juicy finish. 68% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Excellent second wine. Needs five or six years to come around.-James Suckling. The 2020 Pavillon de Léoville-Poyferré is a terrific second wine. Plush, deep and expansive, the Pavillon will provide plenty of enjoyment right out of the gate. Soft, silky tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather. Hints of blood orange and spice lift the finish nicely. All of the signatures of the Grand Vin come through nicely, but in a softer style. This is pure and total seduction.-Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. Even better in the bottle than it was from the barrel, the wine opens with chocolate, black raspberries, flowers, spice, and plums. Medium-bodied, soft, lush, and polished with freshness, fruit, silky tannins, and a gorgeous finish. Enjoy this beauty while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. Drink from 2023-2035.-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider. I always love the second wines from these great estates. The 2020 Pavillon De Léoville Poyferré is up-front, loaded with fruit, and as delicious as they come, offering lots of darker fruit, some spicy wood and graphite notes, medium to full body, and ripe, elegant tannins. Drink this balanced, impeccably made Saint-Julien over the coming 10-15 years.-Jeb Dunnuck. Perfumed blackcurrants in the glass. High-toned, herbal, scented, great acidity and chew to the tannins. A big mouthful, you can feel the power here in the flavours rather than the texture. Almost liqueur-tinged fruit, scented, high-toned, with a rich and seductive tannic structure. It's not heavy in the glass, retains that elegance you're looking for, although still giving a punch with clear minerality to it. Will be approachable very soon, giving terroir and estate signature. Just a darker, more liqueurish and toastier style.-Georgina Hindle, Decanter
