Description: Very fruity, very sweet, light-body white Ingredients: Japanese green plum, Sake. Region: Japan. Intoxicating fragrance of plum and almond, candy sweet on the palate, Choya Umeshu is a premium dessert liqueur made from a local variety of green plums, typically served chilled at the beginning or end of meal. It makes great cocktails and pairs very well with various fruit desserts, chocolates and cheesecakes. Used in cooking with fresh fruit and nutmeg it makes a fantastic compote as well. Make a fruity version of Masala chicken using Umeshu in place of Masala. In Japan, it is often mixed with ice cubes and water, and is quaffed during the warm seasons as if it was a soft drink.
