Description: | Tasting Notes
Fichet's 2017 Bourgogne Blanc Vieilles Vignes unfurls in the glass with notes of beeswax, pear, white flowers and waxy lemon rind. On the palate, it's similarly tangy but fleshier and more concentrated, with depth and structure that nod to Meursault.
Robert Parker 90 Points
About Jean-Philippe Fichet
Jean-Philippe has always been in contact with the vine as he represents the third generation of winegrowers in his family. It was in 1981 thanks to the transmission of a sharecropping lease from his father that his installation took shape. The confidence of the latter and that of his owners allow him to work on their premises with their equipment for three years: It is therefore at the age of 20 that he vinifies his first vintage.
Three harvests later, in 1984, the acquisition of the buildings “at Vieux Saint Christophe” allowed him to consider aging and bottling his wines in his own cellars.
But in 1991 it was desperation, his lease expired and the 4 hectares exploited since 1981 were taken over by one of the owners.
The seriousness of his work carried out over the previous 10 years allows him to gain the trust of two new owners: a new perspective is emerging! Four hectares of vines in Meursault and Auxey-Duresses take place on his estate.
The premises becoming too cramped, in 2000, he bought a former coaching inn at a place called “le Creux du Coche” in Meursault.
2001 was a year of all the challenges:
- Works to restore the buildings
- Organization of the Saint Vincent Tournante, responsibility for the cellars
- Relocation to the new winery
It was in 2002 that he created the Sarl Jean-Philippe Fichet, which allowed him to buy the share of grapes that went to its owners.
In 2006, in order to control the quality of his soils, Jean-Philippe decided to set up a platform in order to make his own composts.
Today he is convinced that it is only at the cost of extreme rigor that each of his wines will express its terroir.
He knows that respect is a guide in every step of his work. |
