| Description: | Part of the Ambrogio Folinari family of estates (others include Tenuta di Nozzole, Tenuta La Fuga, and Tenute del Cabreo), Tenuta Campo al Mare spans almost 75 acres of various plots in the heart of Bolgheri, the Super-Tuscan hotspot. Campo al Mare is dedicated to both traditional Tuscan wines and Bordeaux-style blends, and the estate uses its sandy-soil Fornacelle vineyards near the Tyrrhenian Sea to grow its Vermentino, while it grows its Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot farther inland on higher portions of the Bolgheri hill. Winemaker Giovanni Folonari, the family's eighth-generation vintner, grows his grapes conventionally and uses international methods for vinifying Campo al Mare's wines, techniques that create a perfect harmony of Italian terroir and Bordeaux-style wines. |
