| Description: | An impressive juicy, mid-weight red from the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, in western Sicily. The island's iconic, native Nero d'Avola vines are grown like little bushes here, not too far from the sea; a sunny, breezy place where a vine can really thrive!. Aging for just 6 months in small American-grown oak barrels is enough to complement the naturally rugged and sunny character of the fruit without smothering it. On the nose, there's a flash of ripe fruit, like plums and dark cherry preserves, along with blonde tobacco and dark cocoa (typical of the variety as well as the oak). Dry on the palate, the well-meshed tangy fruit and dark cocoa flavors are delivered with a supple, mid-weight feel. On the finish, dried fruit skin flavors and fine, light grip of tannin accent the juicy fruit pleasantly, neither aggressive nor over-polished. It's a wine that will really find its stride when served cool with your next mixed grill !. The wine succeeds in reflecting its rustic, warm and dry Mediterranean home among the broad, gently rolling hills of western Sicily. Out of respect for their home and the wines of which they are proud, the family-run Firriato wine company has sought to encourage the biodiversity and maintain the integrity of the land throughout their significant growth.
