| Description: | Azienda Agricola Fontanavecchia, Falanghina del Sannio, Taburno, Campania, Italy, 2017 {organic} 100% Falanghina Aromatic Mango & Passion Fruit, Expansive Yet Bright Libero Rillo and his father, Orazio, work their hillside vineyards of Benevento, rich in the fiercely volcanic soils that southern Italy's Campania is renowned for. This soil is most famous for yielding dense, powerful reds. Gaining ground in international acclaim, however, are the classically voluptuous yet balanced whites made from the region's indigenous grapes. Falanghina is perhaps the most fashionable of these and can wonderfully hold on to its acidity, which exists in perfect harmony with the intensely ripe, tropical fruit, resulting in a wine which is distinctly full-figured without being cloying. Falanghina? Bellissima! Serving Suggestion: Neapolitan pizza! Especially the traditional Margherita or ones topped with anchovies and garlic cloves. |
