Reynolds Family Red Persisence

Vintage: 2019
Description: Winemaker Notes
Our flagship wine never disappoints, and 2019 is no exception. Ascending to new heights, it is nature’s generous gift from an astoundingly good vintage. Deep indigo hues coat the glass, as heady aromatics fill the senses. Ripe red, black and blue fruits and berries fuse with savory smoked meats and spices, Kalamata olives, baking spice, and hints of dark and milk chocolate. Dark, dense, and full-bodied, its mouthfeel is potent yet hardly overbearing. The finish is long and lively, with flavors and sensations that leave a lasting impression. This decadent offering is a meal unto itself. However, should you opt to find a fare companion, its bright acidity lends itself naturally to a perfect pairing for a multitude of foods.
Vineyard Notes
The cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit Verdot, and merlot all come from the Reynolds Families 'Persistence Property' over on the border of Coombsville and Oak Knoll. Syrah is sourced fruit from a vineyard in Oakville.
Production Notes
1,600 Cases Produced
About Reynolds Family Winery
From chicken farm to boutique winery. Making wine had always been a passion and a hobby. Turning it from a hobby into a lifelong career…. We never dreamed that would happen. – Steve And Suzie REYNOLDS
The Reynolds Family story is one of passion and hard work. The winery did not simply “fall” into Suzie and Steve’s hands, they crafted every bit of it.
Persistence Vineyard – Coombsville
Persistence Vineyard, which we also own, is a 20-acre property with 15 acres under vine. This property is planted to four Cabernet clones: 7, 191, 337 and 4; two Merlot clones: 3 and 181; one clone of Cabernet Franc: 1; one clone of Petit Verdot: 400; and one clone of Sauvignon Blanc: 1. All are on a mix of root stocks: 1103, 3309 and 101-14.
We make our signature red blend “Persistence” from this vineyard which is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot, 8% Syrah and 2% Petit Verdot. The Syrah we purchase from several different growers who we’ve worked with over the years. One such grower is Somerston whose 660-acre Preach Ranch lies above Lake Hennessy, straddling three of Napa Valley’s sub-appellations.
We also produce our Sauvignon Blanc from this ranch, made with the highly aromatic and structured Musqué clone. The vineyard expresses beautiful pink grapefruit and melon characteristics. We use a mix of concrete egg, stainless steel and wood barrels for fermenting. We look for a Sauv Blanc that is not too sharp or overly bright but round, creamy, and complex. So, we opt for extended time on the lees while stirring in all vessels. Only 400-550 cases of this wine are produced.
