| Description: | #6 on Hi-Time's Top Spanish Wines of 2024. This is a delicious red with a serious side. It's a wine about balance and seamless textures, with Priorat's famous combination of opulence and lift. With time in the glass, the aroma of gunflint gradually gives way to a core of succulent red and blue fruits (like raspberry/strawberry and elderberry/boysenberry ) and aromatic Mediterranean herbs, flowers ( lilac, rosewater ) and an undercurrent of stony struck flint and earthy dark spice. The suave mouthfeel has nearly as much volume as weight thanks to an inner brightness and finessed flavors, finishing dry and softly mineral. This is the result of artisanal production, with hard work in the vineyards and a light touch in the winery. Terroir al Limit farms organically and follows the principles of biodynamics, which is believed to make more characterful and naturally balanced wines. The "Historic" red is an homage to the wines of yore here, using only the classic varieties of Priorat (around 75% Garnacha & 25% Cariena ): they ferment with whole grape clusters, which emphasizes elegance and expansive volume, and they don't use oak, which preserves more of its aromatic freshness and clarity. Give it time to breathe outside the bottle and pair with tapas, paella or Basque-style chicken! |
