Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche (750ML)

From Chassagne-Montrachet

Vintage: 2020
Description: 96 JS / 96 We / 92-94 Vm / 93 Jm / 93 Ws / 91-93 Bh / 17 Jr. A super-elegant Chassagne-Montrachet that offers all you want from this appellation, the balance of ripe-lemon character and flinty minerality spot-on. Super-silky and very graceful on the medium-to full-bodied palate. Then the finish doesn't want to stop. Drink or hold.-James Suckling. The freshness of perfectly ripe citrus in this wine allows one to appreciate concentration that remains modest in the glass. The palate is robust and exudes squeezed Meyer lemon. Salty and highly concentrated, it finishes with almond brioche. While balanced, the wine whispers with potent energy and attitude. Enjoy after 2026. - Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast. The 2020 Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot, ler Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a slightly more tropical influenced bouquet compared to the Clos des Mouches Blanc, with passion fruit, nectarine and peach skin aromas. The palate is well balanced with hints of apricot and orange rind on the entry, a fine bead of acidity with ample depth and vigour on the finish. Superb. --Neal Martin, Vinous Media. A pleasingly full bouquet with oak and fruit in harness, the former being vanilla rather than toasty. This style for me works very well in Morgeot. There is a balanced sucrosity, part fruit, part oak, with a long swelling finish. Ample yet with balanced acidity. A slight tropicality but melon rather than pineapple. Drink from 2025-2034. Tasted: May 2024.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. A sleek white, with lime blossom, lemon cake and peach aromas and flavors framed by baking spices. Racy, gaining even greater precision as this winds down on the persistent finish. Shows terrific balance and length. - BS< Wine Spectator. Tasting note: A deft application of wood frames the overtly floral-suffused nose of petrol, white peach, lemon zest and subtle spice wisps. The medium-bodied flavors are also rich to the point of opulence, yet the firm acid spine saves the balance on the saliva-inducing, long and powerful finish. This fine effort is very Morgeot in character and worth a look. Outstanding.-Allen Meadows, Burghound. Cask sample. Big and sinewy but with excellent acidity. Convincing, solid stuff. Long and fresh too. Great stuff! - Jancis Robinson
