| Description: | Deep purple color with good intensity. Powerful and seductive, with aromas of ripe fruit (blackcurrants, morello cherries) and hints of candied violet and liquorice. The palate is generous, rich, and full in flavor. Long finish with hints of pepper and liquorice. 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon. Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.a., established in 1933, is located at Pauillac in the Medoc. Famous for two centuries, first in banking then in wine, the Rothschild name comes from the German phrase "Das Rote Schild"—a reference to the Red Shield which originally served as the family sign. They have been motivated by a constant ambition: to make the world's finest wines, each in its own category—from the chateaux wines like the renowned Chateau Mouton Rothschild, their flagship wine, to branded wines such as the famous Mouton Cadet. For many years, the Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) have complemented their fine wines from their prestigious vineyards with a line of wines great for casual enjoyment, known as their "Reserves." To share in the spirit of the "Reserve des Barons", reserve wines are offered from different appellations. The Reserves are part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild's (Lafite) desire to produce wines from the finest Bordeaux soils which can be casually enjoyed. |
