| Description: | A well-balanced Pinotage offering ripe mulberries, fresh plums, and oak spice that follow from nose to palate. It is medium-bodied with earthy finish and velvety tannins. A mere 20% of the wine aged in neutral French oak. This hails from one of the oldest wine farms in Stellenbosch, dating back to 1692. They began branding under the Spier name in 1971. The vineyards occupy both cool coastal and warmer inland sites. The Million Trees project teaches people from some of the Cape's poorest communities how to grow and care for indigenous trees and plants. They are given seedlings which are later exchanged for living essentials. Delicious with a hearty roast of beef or lamb with winter greens, and also perfect for washing down a blue cheese burger. |
