| Description: | This is not the first time that Stonestreet Chardonnay has been on our Top North American White wine list, but for those of you who have tasted their glorious elixirs in the past, you can see why it's on our list once again! Stonestreet's vineyards stand on the western ridge of the Mayacamas Mountains, towering over the Alexander Valley below. High elevations, volcanically derived soils and cooling maritime breezes give winemaker Lisa Valtenbergs a unique location from which to pursue the quest of mountain winegrowing, and she makes Chardonnays of exceptional concentration, purity and depth. Of the 5,100 acres that make up the Estate, only 900 are planted to grapes (235 individual vineyard blocks) while the remaining land retains its natural biodiversity and abounds with streambeds and ancient oaks, providing a habitat to cougars, owls and black bears. Earning 93 points from respected critic Antonio Galloni, Stonestreet's Estate Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 10 months in 32% new French oak, and shows a balance between weight and precision like no other wine at the price can. The 2018 exhibits notes of caramel, baked apple, vanilla, butter, brioche, tropical fruits, and a touch of minerality. This full-bodied, rich, and opulent Chardonnay has been one of our favorite "go to" wines for years, and after one sip, you'll see why!. Antonio Galloni 93 Points - "The 2018 Chardonnay Estate is a blend of various blocks on the estate. Not surprisingly, it is a beautifully balanced, harmonious wine. Lemon confit, sage, mint, white flowers and tangerine oil all meld together in the glass. The Estate captures all the natural breadth and texture of this site, but in a smaller-scaled style vis-a-vis the single block bottlings.".
