| Description: | 95 pts Tim Atkin Mw The latest in a trio of very impressive releases from Glenelly, this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot. It's a structured, well-balanced, smoky cuvée that combines freshness with concentration and latent power. The tannins are very fine indeed. 92 pts James Suckling June 2018 Freshly picked blackcurrants, pressed violets, dried herbs and licorice, as well as a hint of burnt-blackberry essence. Full-bodied and tannic, but well-structured with a lovely serving of acidity. A chewy finish. Drink in 2021. A blend of 89% cabernet sauvignon, 10% petit verdot and 1% cabernet franc. 4 ½ Stars 2017 Platter's South African Wine Guide As usual, 12 augments its cab base (here 10% petit verdot & a drop of cab franc). Classic notes of cedar with fresh dark cassis lead to intense flavours; lovely firm cab tannins need time to harmonize, but all-new oak unobtrusive. More elegant, dry & less sweetly rich than many top cabs. |
