| Description: | Produced before the time of Opus One Winery's current head wine master Michael Silacci, this featured bottling of 2000 Opus One Proprietary Red is nevertheless just as lush and superbly crafted as any other! Said to have been curated by Tim Mondavi, the son of co-founder Robert Mondavi, in partnership with winemaker Patrick Leon – 2000 Opus One is composed in the Bordeaux style and derived from 5 select California varietals; 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot. With a skin contact maceration period of an amazing 44 days, this beautifully aromatic quaff is aged for a minimum of 19 months in 100% virgin French oak barrels. 2000 Opus One offers a nose of fresh sandalwood spice, sweet caramel candies, and anise herbs paired with a palate of ripe blackberries, orchard cherries, and oak. |
