Description: | One of the wine world's rockstar producers, Pierre-Yves Colin is the oldest son of Burgundy's Marc Colin. Pierre-Yves worked at his father's domaine from 1994 to 2005, when he left to form his own Burgundy house with his wife, Caroline Morey, who had an established wine négociant business. Pierre-Yves inherited an almost 15-acre parcel of his family's vineyards, while Caroline's relationships with winegrowers was equally robust. Together, the pair founded Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in the Côte de Beaune with the intention of crafting fine, mineral-driven, terroir-specific Chardonnay wines. About 70% of the grapes for Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey's wine come from the domaine's own vineyards, located mostly in Chassagne-Montrachet, with the remainder coming from dedicated growers. Pierre-Yves uses sustainable agriculture, long aging in neutral demi-muid barrels (rather than new oak), and long élevage for his profound, detailed Chardonnays. This meticulous viniculture helps Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey to craft gorgeous Burgundies to collect, share, and love. |
