Description: | Villadoria: Bridging Tradition and Future in Piemontese Winemaking : Villadoria, a winery deeply rooted in tradition, is building a bridge to the future. For four generations, the Lanzavecchia family has witnessed the evolution of a region where wine is the most precious treasure. The Serralunga d'Alba hills, nestled in the heart of Barolo, provide the ideal setting for cultivating the native vines that produce Piedmont's most prestigious wines. It is within this invaluable land that Villadoria resides on the Cappallotto Estate, spanning over 20 hectares in the heart of the Langhe. Their journey began in the late 1800s as a nursery selling rootstock to other growers, culminating in the winery's opening in 1959. In recent years, Daniele Lanzavecchia entrusted the winemaking to his daughter, Paola. Her talent has elevated Villadoria's profile by seamlessly blending modern technology with traditional production methods, ensuring meticulous care at every stage of the process. They practice sustainable farming, eschewing pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and are founding members of the Associazione Nazionale Biotipico. Paola has revitalized the old cellars, introduced new casks and barriques, designed a modern tasting room, and transformed the overall aesthetic of the winery. She is constantly refining the quality and flavor profiles of her family's wines. Her creations represent the "new bridge" - softer, more elegant expressions with integrated tannins, while still upholding the "iron fist within a velvet glove" tradition that defines the prestige of Piedmont wines in Italy. |
