| Description: | A simply sumptuous, old, single cask Auchentoshan. Whisky first flowed into this barrel on 22nd October 1979. Interestingly enough, on the same day, the House of Commons discussed the removal of trade tariffs on Scotch whisky. Indeed, there should be no barriers to those who want to try this dram, as it is truly delicious. The age of this whisky is even more impressive when one considers that the Lowland distillery chose to age this drop in a first fill Oloroso cask! Drinkers should therefore expect hefty sherry influence from this marvellous dram. Indeed, the nose reveals wonderful, fruity notes, with a huge Christmas cake character and toasted almonds. On the palate, the drinker is greeted with vanilla custard, plums and raisins, crumbling sugar and ginger. The spirit still retains some of the lightness one associates with this lowland distillery. The finish lingers in the mouth, with a waft of woodsmoke and notes of damson jam and baking spices. All these delightful flavours are boosted from the cask strength of 50.5% Abv. Stock of this beautiful dram is extremely limited, with only 1000 bottles being produced, so drinkers should act fast if they want to try this bottle. |
