Vintage: | 2010 |
---|---|
Description: | History,. The newest release from Bruichladdich's Exploratory Cask Series, this heavily peated malt was distilled in 2010 from the 2009 crop of heavily peated Scottish barley. Filled into three cask types, ex-bourbon, ex-Syrah and ex-VDN (vin doux natural), it was transferred into a collection of ultra high quality bodega sherry hogsheads supplied on the personal recommendation of Jan Petterson, owner of the excellent Bodegas Fernando De Castilla. Bottled at cask strength in 2020, this powerful 9 year old malt one of the very few heavily sherried heavily peated Bruichladdich available today. Only tiny quantities were made available in California. Tasting Notes,. Nose: Peat smoke shrouds jammy dark fruits, with caramelised nuts, festive spices and orange peel, with notes of mocha, maple syrup and a touch of maritime influence. Palate: Rich and oily, with fragrant smoke, candied nuts and dried fig, alongside cigar box, peppery oak and more orange peel. Finish: The smoke is dry now, with dried fruit sweetness, cocoa and vanilla buttercream, supported by mineral saltiness and citrus curd. |
