Henry McKenna Bourbon Whiskey
Description: | Henry McKenna Bourbon Whiskey Liter hard to find! Henry McKenna is a bourbon whiskey produced in Bardstown, Kentucky by Heaven Hill Distilleries. A straight bourbon. Henry McKenna brought his family's whiskey recipe with him from Ireland in 1837 and settled in Fairfield, Kentucky, founding his distillery there in 1855. He soon adapted his techniques to the local Kentucky grains, particularly corn, and began producing what became known as "Kentucky's Finest Table Whiskey". Henry Mckenna bourbon has a peppery pinch to the spicy nose, which fits perfectly with the dark brooding nature of the beast. Really complex and tempting. Taste: Wow! Loads of everything. As you might expect from the nose. Adeep, satin-smooth oak and burnt sugar backdrop allows the malt and rye to haven big say. Lots of vanilla, too. Finish: Here, as it dries, the corn comes into dominance. Some vanilla toffee, too. Comments: Magnificent stuff from Heaven Hill that really is worth hunting for. Henry Mckenna bourbon is a good, traditional bourbon nose with a nice balance of vanilla, caramel, oak, and alight herbaceous note in the background; the body is medium, leaning toward full, and the palate shows a good balance of sharp spices, honey and sweetness, and a touch of mint; the finish is very spicy. Overall: If you like your bourbon whiskey spicy, this one's for you. Drink it on the rocks. Aromas of charcoal and sweet citrus. Good depth richness with caramel and charcoal flavors sweet and spicy finish. |
