Description: | Grape: Sangiovese Tasting Notes: Plum, Earth, Hazelnut, Dark Berry Four generations of the Sassetti family have made wine in Montalcino. The "Podere Pertimali" with its 16 hectares of vineyards is one of the most favorable terroirs for Sangiovese in the area. I had the pleasure of visitng Sassetti a number of years ago and met a few of the family members including Livio. Their Brunello has always been one of my favorites and is consistently excellent every vintage. Rosso di Montalcino is often referred to as a "Baby Brunello" because the wine is made from the same delicious Brunello grapes, however it sees less time in oak before release. They provide a snapshot of everything we love about Brunellos. This "baby" is medium bodied, with fine tannins, extreme complexity and elegance.
