Massaya Terrasses de Baalbeck
Description: | Previously named Massaya Silver. Massaya iis the brainchild of two dynamic Lebanese brothers who have harnessed the potential of their fabulous terroir to the know-how of two French wine-making dynasties. Ramzi & Sami Ghosn, Daniel & Frédéric Brunier (Vieux Télégraphe) and Dominique Hébrard (ex Cheval Blanc). This is a partnership between two courageous brothers Ramzi and Sami Ghosn of the Lebanon, and two far-sighted French families. Massaya celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2008 and it is extraordinary to see what they have achieved. The wines are very good indeed and each vintage just gets better and better! Ramzi has now settled down as the wine maker. Circumstances during the war of 2006 made it impossible for their French partners to help him so Ramzi and Sami had to learn fast and do it all themselves. These are now fantastic wines and Sami and Ramzi deserve all our support. "Terrasses de Baalbeck" is the new incarnation of the old Massaya "Silver". It has a different grape variety blend – 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah. Aged for 18 months in French oak. Full bodied and ripe the wine has finesse and elegant freshness. |
