| Description: | Cedarman is a proprietary blend of certified organic fruit from some of the highest elevation plantings on Howell Mountain. Primarily Zinfandel, Turley uses a small amount of Petite Syrah as well, resulting in a truly powerful, dense and wild wine, long on flavor. Wild berries, cracked pepper, game, pine forestthe perfect wine for cabin-goers and cabinfever-havers alike. For fans of bold and full flavor, the wine has tons of brambly fruits and signature mountain brawn. A serious steal, the Cedarman is exemplary in 2018. Can decant or lay down, though does not require either. Antonio Galloni 92-94 Points - "i was so impressed with the 2021s I tasted at Turley last fall. The 2021s are absolutely gorgeous. There are moments when wine transcends the usual descriptors. That happens often at Turley because the wines are more than just wines, rather they are little snapshots of California history in a glass. Larry Turley and head winemaker Tegan Passalacqua work with a range of legacy sites, many of them planted in the late 1800s/early 1900s, to craft wines that offer stunning expressions of place. The 2021s are aromatically expressive and quite silky, something that is especially evident in the Petite Sirahs this year. Yields are down 30% for most wines, although a bit more in some cases. Best of all, the Turley wines offer exceptional value, something that is increasingly hard to find in todays world. With two exceptions, I tasted all of the wines in this report from barrel or tank prior to bottling.". "The 2021 Zinfandel Cedarman is a blend of Dragon and Rattlesnake, with a touch of Petite Sirah. It is once again one of my favorite wines in this vast range. Dark and sumptuous, with great density, the 2021 dazzles right out of the gate. Black cherry, gravel and dried flowers are some of the many notes that inform this deep, flavorful Howell Mountain Zinfandel. The price? Ridiculous for this level of quality and pedigree. " |
