| Description: | The product of a sunny, dry growing season, the '12 Le Serre Nuove reflects its stellar vintage in its full body, velvety mouth-feel, and intense palate that culminates in a long, lingering finish. Red and black fruits burst from the glass, joined by smoky minerals, eucalyptus, espresso, spice and warm cigar wrapper in this enchanting wine. Dark and sappy, this Serre Nuove bottling coats the palate without weight, and its jaunty acidity and piquant minerals keep the wine light on its toes. A blend that changes every vintage, the ‘12 Le Serre Nuove is a blend of 52% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, and 8% Cabernet Franc. The estate vinifies each vineyard block separately, fermenting the grapes in temperature-controlled stainless steel, aging the wines for about 15 months in barrique, one-quarter new, before assembling the final blend; after, the wine ages for another three months in barrel and six months in bottle before release. |
