Description: Review The Petitto family is on a roll, gaining a lot of positive attention for the consistency and friendly appeal of its territory-driven wines. Donnachiara farms 27 hectares of vines and has recently signed on with Riccardo Cotarella as consulting enologist. - Stephan Reinhardt, Interim December 2018 Week 1, The Wine Advocate. Other text Irpinia land owes its character to its unusual microclimate thermic excursions between night and day which is ideal for the cultivation of the great Irpinia wines; because it gives a good point of maturation, without alterating the sugar levels. Food pairing A fine match to steak and game (deer, wild boar, etc.), truffle, pasta with full body sauces and cheese. Producer In the large wine production of Campania Region DonnaChiara, between the hills of Avellino, is distinguished for its tradition, its modern appeal and its determination. Founded in 2005 by Chaira and her husband Umberto Petitto, the winery Donnachiara is a significant property. It was helped to preserve the best traditions of an area naturally suited to viticulture since Roman times. The passionate Petitto family follows the activities from the cultivation of the vineyards, to the final vinification process. For five generations we have produced brilliant results through the detail of activities in the vineyards and with the work done in the cellar. Actually Donnachiara wines represent the best expression of the "made in Campania", drawing strength from their origins and regional quality expressed through the "style" and the products of culture. DonnaChiara winery has a deep connection to the territory of Irpinia and with the specific intent of enhancing the typical varieties of the area. The mission of DonnaChiara, is to invest in the secular tradition of viticulture in the Irpinia Region, emphasising the most typical features and rediscovering the scents and the flavors of the Irpinian wines. Today in the 27 hectares of vineyards, Donnachiara cultivates Aglianico, Fiano and Greco di Tufo. These grapes were brought to Campania a millennia ago by the ancient Greeks and spread to many areas of Southern Italy. Our soil provide the best results for DonnaChiara wines expressing the great quality of these grapes with thanks to the great expertise of the technicians in the cellar. Infact the winery has the most advanced technologies available today. Innovative tools for temperature control, vinification and aging of the great red grape of Aglianico and the fragrant well structured white grapes Fiano and Greco. Product quality is the philofophical focus of the Donnachiara Brand. Our family tradition is the heart, the soul and the basis of which the natural foundations we build on. We give the passion to the land and grapes in order to produce wines of great strength and noble character. Wine Advocate 91 points - With fruit from clay soils within the Iripinia appellation, the 2016 Irpinia Aglianico shows more heft and depth compared to the easy-breezy entry-level expression Donnachiara makes from the Igp Campania appellation. This wine offers a very accessible and drinkable approach along with good sophistication, momentum and energy. Some 25,000 bottles were made, and the value you get here is impressive. Pair it with breaded veal cutlets. (Oct 2019) Colour Intense ruby red Bouquet Full, complex, intense bouquet of marasca, prune and berries, with spiced notes Palate Warm, elegant and persistent with a great structure
