Dry Creek Heritage Vines Zinfandel
Zinfandel
Description: | Wine lovers throughout the world, rightly or wrongly, often associate certain regions with specific grapes and/or styles of wine. For example, French wines are synonymous with Bordeaux (primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and Burgundy (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay), while Italy is Tuscany and the Sangiovese grape. For the United States, people associate Oregon with Pinot Noir, and California with Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. However, it is fair to say that Zinfandel wines from Sonoma County are the most historically significant wines in America. The first vineyard in Sonoma was planted in 1823, and it is this heritage that the owners of Dry Creek Vineyards want to honor with their "Heritage Vines" Zinfandel. The flavors are dense and complex, without any one element overpowering the wine. Definitely drier than some of the jammy styles of Zin, I think you will love this wine for its complexity. -Drew Fuller |
