Description: | 92 pts James Suckling May 2022 Blackberries, black cherries and orange peel with a full body, round tannins and a flavorful finish. Flowers and berries at the end. Drink or hold. 90 pts Wine Advocate Nov 2022 The 2019 Paso de Piedra Malbec is ripe at 15% alcohol and produced with grapes from their old vineyard in Las Compuertas. It fermented in concrete vats, where half of the wine was kept, while the rest was transferred to oak barrels for malolactic and six months of aging. It has notes of honey, wax and pollen, with less oak than in the past (all used barrels, and part of the wine was kept unoaked), preserving the fruit character. It has black rather than red fruit and some toasty and smoky undertones, slightly balsamic and minty. It's round and full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2020. 2022-2026 |
